Ealát Eallu Eallin: Pasture, Herd, Life

Reindeer husbandry has supported civilization across the Eurasian Arctic and Subarctic for thousands of years. As the semi-nomadic Sámi herdsmen of northern Norway face irreversible impacts from global warming, more immediate threats from development in the Arctic and regulation of herd diversity hinder their ability to adapt.

Special thanks to Jonathan Coleman, Ingrid Mari-Anne S. Gaup, Marianne Iverson, Niklas Labba, Britt Marie Labba Paivio, and Anders Oskal for their help in Finnmark. Sound mixed by Nick Drummond. Music by Mari Boine.
