Recent design for Tom Robbins and Gary Snyder events

Posted 30 April 2009 by in Announcements

I recently did the page design for the first issue of a small zine, Moontrolling. My friend Christian Martin interviewed author Tom Robbins for the Bellingham Weekly in 2003. He has expanded that interview, added a few photos and now self-published the piece titled “Tom Robbins Incognito: Tracking the Pacific Northwests Elusive Literary Outlaw.” We used a new on-demand magazine printing company called MagCloud to print the 12-page color zine. MagCloud prints and mails copies of your publication as they’re ordered, avoiding the big up-front costs required by offset printing. I’m excited by the potential and plan to use it for leave-behind portfolios in the future. You can preview or order copies of Christian’s piece on Tom Robbins directly from MagCloud.

Christian is releasing this piece to coincide with an appearance by Tom Robbins on Bellingham’s Chuckanut Radio Hour on May 7. My brother’s band, The Senate, is also performing for the event at Boundary Bay Brewery. And yes, it’s been sold out for weeks. (But you can catch The Senate when they play Seattle’s Triple Door on May 22.)

snyderThis month I also designed a postcard and poster for Gary Snyder’s upcoming appearance at Benaroya Hall. Seattle Arts & Lectures and North Cascades Institute will present “An Evening with Gary Snyder” on Wednesday May 27, 2009. Tickets are still available for this one. Todd Burley made the beautiful sunset photograph of Sourdough Mountain Lookout.

  5. I am also looking for a phone number for Todd Burley, since it appears that he is no longer at Seattle Parks Foundation. I have his mailing address if you want to e-mail me.
